Escape to Paradise: Farmesland Resort & Spa, Ubon Ratchathani Awaits!
Alright, buckle up buttercups, because we're about to dive headfirst into the… well, let’s call it the "Farmesland Experience," at Escape to Paradise: Farmesland Resort & Spa, Ubon Ratchathani Awaits! Yeah, that's a mouthful, but hey, so is a good breakfast buffet, right? This isn't gonna be your cookie-cutter review, trust me. I'm gonna spill the tea (or maybe the Thai ice tea, which is way better) on everything, from the fluffy towels to the… uh… let’s just say the unexpected adventures.
Accessibility & The Quest for the Perfect Parking Spot (And a Rant About Elevators)
Okay, first things first: Accessibility. Farmesland tries. They've got facilities for disabled guests, which is a HUGE plus. I spotted an elevator, thank the heavens, because my knees are not what they used to be. BUT, the car park [on-site] situation? Let’s just say it’s a bit of a free-for-all. Finding a decent parking spot felt like winning the lottery. And while they offer car park [free of charge], good luck if you arrive during peak hours. Seriously, bring your patience. And maybe a GPS tracker for where you finally parked.
Internet Access? Yeah, It's There (Thank Goodness for Free Wi-Fi!)
Thank the Wi-Fi gods! They have Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! and Internet access – wireless so you're covered. Internet access – LAN is an option if you're old school, and there’s Wi-Fi in public areas too. Look, in the modern world, connection is key. I survived, documented and sent some emails.
Dining, Drinking, and Snacking – A Foodie's Rollercoaster (and a Plea for More Coffee)
Okay, the food. This is where things get interesting. The Breakfast [buffet] deserves a medal. Seriously, the spread is impressive. Asian breakfast, Western breakfast, Buffet in restaurant all available. I loaded up on some weird and wonderful local fruit, some surprisingly good bacon, and about three cups of that sweet, sweet Coffee/tea in restaurant. (Okay, I might have needed more coffee. Always more coffee). There's a Coffee shop too, but I was often too busy attempting to stay awake during my spa treatments to visit.
Later on, I tackled the Restaurants (plural!), including a Vegetarian restaurant. I am a meat eater, but I was curious and the veg was surprisingly delicious. There's Asian cuisine in restaurant, definitely. The International cuisine in restaurant? Hit or miss, depending on your expectations. The Soup in restaurant was a lifesaver after a particularly adventurous day. There's also the Poolside bar, which is perfect for a cocktail (the Happy hour specials are worth a look!) and a snack. A la carte in restaurant is definitely an option, and the Desserts in restaurant are… dangerous. Just saying. Bottle of water? Always.
Ways to Relax (and Get Mildly Confused by the Treatments)
This is where Farmesland really shines. Oh, the spa! My face had to have a reaction to this. The spa is a real showstopper. They've got it all: Massage, Spa, Sauna, Steamroom, Pool with view, Foot bath. I opted for the full Monty: Body scrub, Body wrap, the works. The staff is lovely, but the sheer volume of treatments is overwhelming. I lost track of what was being applied to me at one point. I think it involved seaweed, some kind of mud, and maybe a little bit of magic. The results? Blissful. My skin felt like silk, and I think I actually slept for a full ten hours that night. (Worth the price of the stay alone, am I right?) Honestly, the Swimming pool (and the Swimming pool [outdoor]) is a stunner, and the views from it are incredible.
Cleanliness and Safety – The Sanitization Squad
Okay, let's talk about the more serious stuff. I was pleasantly surprised by the Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, and Rooms sanitized between stays. They are certainly doing there best to keep the place clean and I felt safe. There’s even a Hand sanitizer dispenser on nearly every corner.
Things to Do – From Tranquility to… Things You Didn't See Coming
Beyond the spa, there’s stuff to do. A Fitness center and Gym/fitness for those with more energy than me. I peeked in, and it looked pretty impressive. There's a Shrine on-site, which is a nice touch. I didn’t venture in, but it’s there. The Terrace is a great place to chill, especially if you have a good book. Bicycle parking should you want to cycle.
The Rooms – Cozy, but Prepare for the Quirks
My room, a Non-smoking setup (thank goodness!), was comfortable and clean. The Bed was comfy, the Air conditioning worked like a charm, and the Bathroom was well-equipped. I even had a Bathrobes and Slippers. They always have the basic stuff but the Extra long bed was a bit of a lie, so I would be wanting an upgrade, but for a reasonable price it was fair.
Services and Conveniences – The Good, the Okay, and the… Well, The Quirky
They offer a ton of services: Laundry service, Dry cleaning, Concierge, Room service [24-hour], and Daily housekeeping. The Invoice provided was a nice touch. Luggage storage was a godsend. Cash withdrawal is available.
For the Kids – Family Friendly-ish
They claim to be Family/child friendly, but I'm not entirely sure what that really means. There’s a Babysitting service, which is handy. I saw a Kids meal on the menu, but other than that, it feels a bit more geared towards couples and solo travelers.
Getting Around – Taxi Troubles and Airport Adventures
The Airport transfer is helpful. They've got a Taxi service, if you’re feeling brave and the Car park [on-site] is an okay option, though getting in and out during peak hours is a battle.
The Verdict – Should You Escape to Paradise?
Look, Farmesland Resort & Spa isn't perfect. It has its quirks, its moments of glorious confusion, and a parking situation that could give you a mild heart attack. But the stunning spa, the decent food, the generally lovely staff, and the sheer beauty of Ubon Ratchathani (plus the ability to chill in a Couple's room) make it a worthwhile escape.
Is it paradise? Maybe not quite. But it’s a damn good adventure, and frankly, that's what makes it memorable.

Okay, buckle up buttercups, because we're about to dive headfirst into… my chaotic adventure at Farmesland Resort & Spa in Ubon Ratchathani. Prepare for a rollercoaster, because frankly, I'm still recovering.
Farmesland Fiasco: A Journey Through Jungle and… Mild Panic (and Maybe Some Spa)
Day 1: Arrival and the Quest for the Elusive Banana Smoothie
- 1:00 PM: Arrived at Ubon Ratchathani Airport. Okay, so the flight was delayed. Classic. But hey, I landed! Hooray! The driver from Farmesland (bless his soul, he looked like he’d been waiting since the Cretaceous Period) whisked me away in a car that might have seen better days, but hey, it got me there. The journey to the resort felt longer than the flight itself, a winding dance through… well, let’s just say “lush landscapes.” I tried to channel my inner zen, but the bumpy roads did a number on my stomach.
- 2:30 PM: Farmesland! Finally. The place looked… grand. Like, jungle-chic grand. Reception was all smiles and frangipani, and I, being utterly jet-lagged, nearly tripped over my own feet. Check-in was smooth, thank god.
- 3:00 PM: The room! Oh, my room. It had a balcony overlooking… trees. Lots of trees. And a tiny, precariously balanced, swing chair. I promptly sat on the swing chair, and almost fell off. Note to self: Balance challenged.
- 3:30 PM: The Quest for the Perfect Banana Smoothie begins. I'd read about this online. "Unbelievable Banana Smoothie" they said. First, I tried the main restaurant. No banana smoothie. "We have mango!" They said. "Mango is for quitters" I muttered. No banana smoothie. Next, the bar. Closed. Apparently everything closes in Ubon at like 4. I was starting to unravel. I needed that smoothie.
- 4:30 PM: Found the pool. It was serene. Beautiful. I dipped my toes in, then got promptly bitten by a tiny, angry mosquito. Revenge is a dish best served… with OFF! I retreated, defeated.
- 5:00 PM: Finally. Banana Smoothie. Found it at the spa. Tucked away in a corner. And it was… good. Not life-changing, but good. And I'd earned it.
Day 2: Spa-ing (and the Existential Dread of the Bird of Paradise)
- 8:00 AM: Wake up. Sun shining. Birds chirping. I swear, I saw one look at me funny. Breakfast was a glorious buffet of Thai delights. I ate way too much mango sticky rice. Regret level: low.
- 9:30 AM: Spa time! I booked a traditional Thai massage. Let me tell you, these ladies know what they're doing. I swear my spine has never been more flexible.
- 11:00 AM: Poolside reading. Paradise, right? Nope. The book I packed was mind-numbingly boring. I swear, the plot was about a shrub. I couldn't focus. I stared at the Bird of Paradise flowers. They were huge. Tropical. And vaguely threatening. I felt a strange existential dread well up inside me. Were they judging me?
- 12:30 PM: Lunch. More mango sticky rice. Definite regret level: rising.
- 2:00 PM: My Room. The swing chair beckons. I fail to be gracefull. I decide that it is my mission to master it. I spend the next hour perfecting dismount. It became the highlight of the day.
- 4:00 PM: Another Banana Smoothie. Needed.
- 7:00 PM:Dinner at the resort. The food was delicious. Everything was delicious. I was turning into a glutton.
Day 3: Adventure (and the Terrifying Speed of a Tuk-Tuk)
- 9:00 AM: Decided to be adventurous (finally!). Booked a tuk-tuk to explore the local temples. Terrifying. I swear that tuk-tuk driver thought he was in a Formula 1 race. The wind whipped my hair around, and I had to grip the seat for dear life.
- 10:00 AM: Temples. Beautiful. Serene. I felt a little guilty for being so stressed from the Tuk Tuk ride. But the temples were definitely worth it. The gold! The intricate carvings! The sheer majesty of the place was breathtaking.
- 12:00 PM: Local Market. Spicy food. Loud noises. A sensory overload in the best possible way! I bought some weird, unidentifiable snacks. Ate them. They tasted, well, interesting.
- 2:00 PM: Back to the resort. Exhausted. The day's adventure took a toll on me.
- 3:00 PM: Banana Smoothie.
- 4:00 PM: The swing chair and I make peace. I did not fall.
- 7:00 PM: Dinner and reflection. I'm starting to think the Bird of Paradise is not so threatening.
Day 4: Farewell (and the Promise of More Smoothies)
- 8:00 AM: Last Breakfast. More Mango Sticky Rice. I'm not even sorry.
- 9:00 AM: One last, leisurely exploration of the resort grounds. Found a hidden hammock. Pure bliss.
- 11:00 AM: The final Banana Smoothie. A bittersweet moment.
- 12:00 PM: Packing. The inevitable chaos of departure.
- 1:00 PM: Saying goodbye to Farmesland. A mixture of relief and sadness. I'm leaving a jungle paradise, but my stomach is glad for the break from mango sticky rice.
- 2:30 PM: Flight home. Reflecting on the experience. Will I return? Absolutely. But next time, I'll be bringing my own, personal, self-shaking cocktail blender. And maybe a therapist.
Overall Thoughts:
Farmesland was… an experience. It was messy, imperfect, and wonderfully chaotic, just like me. The staff was incredible, the scenery was stunning (even the Bird of Paradise eventually started to grow on me), and the banana smoothies, well, they were worth the quest. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Just need to find a more reliable method of transportation. And maybe learn some Thai for my next adventure.
Highly recommended. But be prepared for anything. And pack extra sunscreen. You'll need it.
